Merit Health Woman's Hospital Raises $900 for Jackson Stitchery Guild to Support Mastectomy Patients
10/6/2025
Employees at Merit Health Woman’s Hospital recently raised $900 through a sweatshirt fundraiser to benefit the Jackson Stitchery Guild (JSG). Since July 2020, the Guild has donated more than 600 handmade pillows to mastectomy patients at the hospital, offering comfort and support during recovery. Despite rising costs of materials, the JSG continues to uphold its mission of compassion and care.
Each pillow is carefully sewn to be both machine washable and dryable, requiring more than an hour and a half to complete. The pillows are individually packaged with ribbon and delivered to the hospital as needed. JSG members Jane Allison, Cathie Bailey and Deborah Feldman accepted the donation during the hospital’s annual Pink Party, an event that celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month and promotes education among employees and the community.
“The dedication and generosity of the Jackson Stitchery Guild are truly inspiring,” said Crystal Scott, hospital administrator. “Their commitment to helping our mastectomy patients feel more comfortable during recovery embodies the spirit of community and compassion that we value so deeply at Merit Health Woman’s Hospital.”
Merit Health Woman’s Hospital is honored to support the Jackson Stitchery Guild and their continued efforts to bring comfort and care to patients across the region.
